Sarin's Smooth Strategy Sinks Sonis in the Pseudo Queen's Indian
Featured is an instructive chess game between Nihal Sarin (India) and Francesco Sonis (Italy) from Round 3 of the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad Samarkand 2026. Arising from the Pseudo Queen's Indian Defense, we follow a largely positional path throughout, reaching a new position with 12...a6. Sarin's idea after 9...d6 seems simple enough and can easily strike an unsuspecting opponent who follows up with routine-like play.
