Wei Yi Shows Us a Way to Attack the Double Fianchetto
Featured is an instructive chess game between Szymon Gumularz (Poland) and Wei Yi (China) from Round 8 of the 2026 Chess Olympiad, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Arising from a d-pawn based opening, White first releases the central tension with 8. cxd5, and then goes for a double fianchetto setup. By move 14, we observe a largely one-sided, opposite sides castling game with Wei Yi showing us the way to attack.
